About Our Internship Opportunities PDF E-mail

Thank you for your interest in a Wild South Internship. The application process is now closed for our 2010 summer internships.  Check back this fall to explore new opportunities.

Background Information (same for all):

Wild South is a non-profit grassroots organization whose mission is to inspire and empower people to protect and restore the native ecosystems of the Southeast. We envision a Southeast that includes healthy intact ecosystems, a reverence for our public lands and the native natural life they support, and a respect for the cultural heritage sites and wilderness found there. We value personal and organizational integrity, respect for cultural heritage and traditions, science, citizen empowerment, open debate, and creative solutions to reduce pollution and environmental degradation. At this time we do not offer any stipends unless arranged through a third party program.

Responsibilities (same for all):

The intern will be an integral part of the Wild South team, working both independently and in group situations. S/he will take on a variety of tasks, including taking the lead in their project, but at the same time engaging in the full spectrum of Wild South's work.

Expectations for our interns are that they will interact with the organization similar to Wild South staff in that they are expected to participate in events and activities that forward the mission of the organization.

Interns will be provided information/materials and will receive an orientation and training specific to Wild South at the onset of their internship. Once accepted as an intern, they will assist in the design of the individual internship experience. This will be done by establishing a timeline and clearly defining the goals and expectations for the summer.
