2010 educational opportunities now offered to school children and groups include:
- Naturalist Rob Gudger’s and his wolves. This program feature several wolves, one of our country’s most misunderstood animal. Rob and his wolves are regulars at Ghost Town and provide informative, entertaining and educational presentations throughout Western North Carolina. Rob is one of our most requested presenters.
- “Save Our American Raptors.” This flying raptor exhibition is presented throughout the summer at Rock City in Tennessee. It is a fascinating up close look at birds of prey led by professionals John and Dale Stokes. S.O.A.R. is a popular program for schools and other organizations during their off season. Last spring, they brought their flying raptors to Blue Ridge School in NC for over 300 students to help develop awareness of the value of these birds to our ecosystems.
- Wildlife Warrior Steve O'Neil and his Reptiles. Steve works as naturalist and outdoor educator at Earthshine Mountain Lodge in Lake Toxaway, NC. His program topics include reptiles, the Eastern Box Turtle, snakes, animal adaptations and habitats and are designed to supplement the science curriculum of NC public schools.
- Several black bear programs led by Anne Allison, Kathy Sherrard, Bill Lea and Kate Marshall. Anne and Kathy are excellent with younger children while Bill is not only a well known bear expert in Western North Carolina but also an outstanding nature photographer.
- Kate, a professional videographer and photographer, has been tracking black bears for over a decade, documenting them in their nature habitat including the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
- Elk field trips to Cataloochee. With the popularity of the re-introduction of elk to the GSMNP, programs are now offered to bring individuals and groups to Cataloochee to observe the elk in their habitat.

All of these programs are offered to develop a better awareness of wildlife and are structured to meet the needs of schools or other groups. Through these presentations, Wild South hopes to bring individuals closer to nature and instill the value of preserving our environment.
