Eagle Creek Falls, Bankhead National Forest (Sipsey Wilderness), by Charles Seifried

Seifried Photography

Charles Seifried is author and co-author of several books, inluding Alabama's Canyons and Alabama Outdoors. He provided the cover photography for Bankhead Monitor, Wild Alabama and Wild South magazines.

The workshop will begin in the Warrior Mountains Trading Company (11312 AL Hwy. 33, Moulton, AL) at 10:00 a.m. Charles will discuss and show basic photographic equipment and give technical instruction. Participants will learn to "build the eye" using the camera lens and be trained to see the photograph.

After the indoor portion of the workshop, the group will go into the Bankhead National Forest for an afternoon of photography in Payne Creek canyon. The hike into this beautiful canyon is only 1/2 mile (downhill) of moderately easy trail. Tall sandstone bluffs, Payne Creek, a waterfall and large rock shelter are some of the features of this canyon. The forest here is Eastern hemlock, beech, pine and hardwood. Wildflowers will still be in bloom, but if this hike doesn't offer enough wildflowers to satisfy, there will be an additional short hike to a botanical area if time allows.
